BTA Bank, Kazakhstan, reported full implementation of its investment commitments to Ukraine, undertaken during privatization of 25% plus one share in insurance company Oranta, BTA CEO Mukhtar Abliazov told Ukrainian News. "We have fully met our commitments to the state in the purchase of the 25-percent shareholding. In the first place, it was to preserve the strength of the personnel," Abliazov said. He added that the bank easily agreed to those requirements, as the company's philosophy is careful attitude to personnel, and responsibility to the country where it does business. "We will continue taking care of the company's greatest value, people," Abliazov emphasized. Another requirement of the State Property Fund was to prevent a worsening of the company's financial status. "This requirement has also been met," the CEO said.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Mykola Shershun of the Lytvyn Bloc faction is proposing that the parliament extend period for the fuel and energy complex enterprises to repay debts owed for energy sources until January 1, 2011, reads draft law No. 3350, registered with the Verkhovna Rada on November 11. The bill supposes amendments to the law "On measures to ensure stable functioning of the fuel and energy complex enterprises" No. 2711-IV dated June 23, 2005.

The Verkhovna Rada at its Thursday session meeting is dealing with anti-crisis measures for the agro-industrial complex, reads the parliament agenda. In particular, the parliament plans to view draft laws Nos. 3353 and 3353-2 on amending some laws to avert negative impact of the crisis on the agro-industrial complex. The agenda also contains draft law No. 3344 on measures of social protection of population from consequences of the global credit crunch, as well as on averting the financial crisis affect on development of the construction industry. The Rada also plans to consider draft law on making amendments to the Law On State Defense Orders.

President Viktor Yuschenko has called for the elaboration of the program on completion of the half-constructed housing, he said this at the meeting with the leadership of the State mortgage institution, National Bank of Ukraine and the Finance Ministry. "The crisis has touched upon the construction sector and tens of thousands of facilities left uncompleted. We could complete and sell these facilities to people in lines for the housing," he said. To implement the program, the funds could be accumulated via the issue of securities by the Cabinet of Ministers and the State mortgage institution, the president said.

Finance Minister Viktor Pynzenyk has said that the 1.5-percent inflation in November was quite acceptable, the press service of the Finance Ministry said this in the report. Pynzenyk has also called the following a number of positive tendencies: inconsiderable growth of food prices in November (0.2% over 2.3% in November 2007) and also the reduction of the wholesale prices in the industrial sector (6.5%). «This is extremely important respond of the economy to the crisis,» the minister said.

President Viktor Yuschenko has called on the Cabinet of Ministers to support the farming sector. Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the presidential press service. In his letter to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Viktor Yuschenko notes that the Cabinet of Ministers must urgently tackle a number of problems of the farming sector, the presidential press service said. Yuschenko notes that the fall in the wholesale purchase prices of farming produce has not cut retail prices on consumer markets. Also, President Yuschenko has called on the Cabinet of Ministers to pay attention to funding of the Agrarian Fund. He believes that the current funding of the Agrarian Fund is not enough, which indicates inadequate actions of the government. According to Yuschenko, the state must play a more active role in foreign economic relations to create more favorable conditions for exports of Ukrainian goods through the reduction in export duties and reimbursement of VAT.

Defence Minister Yurii Yekhanurov predicts that 5,000 flats are provided to the military personnel for entire 2008, the minister has announced to the press during his visit to Vinnytsia. "Our constructors are currently working at the houses to be commissioned and the five thousand assignment for apartments will be handed before the New Year comes. We forecast that the fifth thousand flat for the military will be commissioned in Sevastopol," he said. Yekhanurov specified, as of December 2 the Defence Ministry capital construction directorate had delivered 4,500 assignments to the military. "Today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, the military will receive in all 545 assignments for apartments, and the total number of commissioned flats will reach 4,500," he said.
